It’s almost 2018; time to get serious about your search visibility. One way to increase visibility is a solid backlinks strategy specifically designed for ASO. Here’s what you need to know about building backlinks for App Store Optimization:
Let’s start with a few things you should know about “quality backlinks”. What is a quality backlink?
Simply put, a quality backlink is a source that provides content that is truly valuable to readers.
Links from these sources should be obtained through natural link building tactics. Researching relevant websites and blogs can be a great way to gain visibility from your target audience. Some easier places to build links are popular forums like Reddit or Quora. These sites are rich resources for any topic under the sun and truly provide value to communities all around the world. By Googling relevant keywords, you can easily determine the sites that would be a relevant place to post your content and understand the type of content your users expect.
Another great way to build authoritative, high-quality backlinks is by partnering with influencers. These people dedicate themselves to building the best content on the web. Whether they’re comedic, educational or just plain entertaining, these creators allow you to reach super-niche audiences with a large amount of influence over your chosen demographic.
Some examples of influencer backlinks would be partnering with YouTube creators, bloggers, or social media personalities.
ASO Protip: Always provide influencers with what they need to do the best job informing their audience about your app. Tell them where to link to and how.
Most importantly, influencers should disclose if this is a paid partnership and remember, paid partnerships don’t necessarily have to involve an exchange of money for service. An #ad also applies to free access to your app or other free items or promises (commission links) in exchange for content creation with your backlink being created.
Link farming is a black hat tactic where large quantities of links are created from cheap sources and poor domains. This tactic is not only lackluster in its effectiveness, but it’s not sustainable and can even potentially have negative results for your app/website!
Why avoid them?
Because we don’t believe in creating links to content that does not benefit the end user. Furthermore, large amounts of low-quality backlink sources have had no positive or strong effect in experiments. Stay away from tempting offers from potentially spammy link farms on sites like Fiverr which offer link packages for small dollar amounts like $5-$15. Save your money. You’ll thank us later!
